Open-Xchange appoints chief security architect

Open source messaging and software provider Open-Xchange (OX) has appointed Neil Cook as chief security architect.

Formerly CTO at security solutions provider Cloudmark, Cook will be responsible for security, privacy and encryption features and implementations across all products in the OX group.

“Open-Xchange is leading the charge for navigating today’s online world at a time when our fundamental right to privacy is being continually eroded and challenged at a previously unimaginable scale,” Cook said.

“OX’s proposition and philosophy is something completely unique to the market. With 2016 set to be a transformative year for the company, I can’t think of a more exciting time to join the leading organisation in this space and I look forward to the great strides and achievements we’ll be making together.”

Cook holds 20 years’ experience in the industry, and his initial focus at OX will be on incorporating its principles into the customer offerings of ISPs and telcos worldwide.

“I am confident that Neil’s blend of experience and skills will serve OX well as we establish a key leadership position in the growing open-source and security markets,” said Rafael Laguna, Open-Xchange CEO.

“We’re quickly gathering momentum and Neil’s appointment is a key stepping-stone on the journey ahead of us.”
