Bolivian telcos spend big on LTE in 2015

Bolivian operators Entel, Tigo and Viva have invested a combined total of $360 million in rolling out 4G LTE technology in the country over the first nine months of 2015, according to local reports.

The investments have seen the telcos expand their mobile networks and deployed fibre infrastructure across Bolivia.

Entel is said to have invested the majority of the amount, $300 million, which is 83.3% of its planned spend for the full year. Tigo spent $100 million and Viva spent $60 million.

In September last year, Entel partnered with China’s ZTE Corporation to be the exclusive supplier for its fibre-to-the-x (FTTx) network in Bolivia.
