China Mobile select Nokia Networks for TD-LTE-A technology

China Mobile has today revealed a partnership with Nokia Networks for its TD-LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) technology, as the operator expands its network across China.

The Chinese operator plans to deploy one million TD-LTE base stations by the end of 2015 using Nokia Networks’ Flexi Multiradio 10 Base Stations.

The roll-out is expected to provide 18 provinces and cities – including Beijing, Guangdong and Shanghai – with high quality mobile broadband connectivity, extended coverage and capacity as well as high-speed internet.

“This new TD-LTE-Advanced deal is a big achievement that makes us the number one non-Chinese network vendor in China for the third year in a row,” said Mike Wang, president of Greater China at Nokia Networks.

“We are proud to support China Mobile with this network expansion project, further building on over 20 years of partnership.”

The deal marks the third phase of China Mobile’s TD-LTE roll-out and in August last year, the operator named Nokia Networks as its best vendor for TD-LTE.
