EE launches 4G-enabled M2M platform

EE has launched what it claims is the UK’s first 4G-enabled M2M platform.

EE Connect is said to offer M2M customers real-time monitoring of devices, remote monitoring, automation and reporting for efficient business operations. The platform is supported by a dedicated M2M service team.

EE estimates it has two million machines communicating to each other over its 2G and 3G network, predicting that to double to more than four million by 2017.

The platform’s ability to leverage 4G will support higher bandwidth devices, such as remote video distribution, in-car diagnostics and entertainment.

“The strength of EE’s 4G network and EE Connect are helping us to enhance our capabilities including our popular Continuum bonded services for rapidly deployed, mission critical internet access and corporate network connectivity, ensuring that we’re able to meet customer expectations the first time, every time,” said Gerry McQuade, chief marketing & sales officer, EE Business.
