Liquid Telecom achieves MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certification

Liquid Telecom has revealed today at Capacity Africa 2015 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, that it has become the first pan-African carrier to achieve MEF Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE 2.0) certification.

MEF is the global industry body for Carrier Ethernet and over a period of four months, its test lab, Iometrix, tested and verified Liquid’s E-line service delivered over its 20,000km fibre network; spanning the tip of Uganda down to Cape Town.

Liquid Telecom said that the accreditation cements its position as a leading wholesale player in Africa.

“This MEF CE 2.0 certification shows that the design, quality and performance of our Carrier Ethernet services are consistent globally, and conform to the highest and most up-to-date industry standards,” said Ramzi Shalak, group chief of networks at Liquid Telecom.

“Liquid Telecom is now even better positioned to help enterprise and carrier customers around the world to grow their business and expand into new markets in Africa.”

South Africa’s Neotel is the only other African operator to have achieved MEF CE 2.0 certification.
