Ericsson opens cloud lab in Germany

Ericsson has established a cloud lab in Germany aimed at supporting operators and enterprises in testing and verifying cloud-based services.

The news follows the vendor's launch of another similar cloud lab located in Rome in May 2015.

Many large enterprises still experience challenges as their usage of cloud technology increases, said the company. Ericsson said its Aachen-based lab will help enterprises develop cloud migration, governance, security and data integrity competencies through live demos.

”By developing these cloud solutions in cooperation with our customers, we will provide them the opportunity to speed up the deployment of cloud technology,” said Valter D’Avino, Ericsson head of Western & Central Europe.

“This means we will more quickly experience the benefits of cloud, such as shorter time to market for new services within internet of things for example, and a more agile IT infrastructure.”

The cloud lab will be built on Ericsson’s technology and services expertise, including its HDS 8000 data centre hardware and its offerings for infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS).
