DE-CIX NY completes first year with strong results

DE-CIX New York passed its first customer traffic in May 2014, and today reveals a year of rapid customer growth and success for its distributed, carrier-neutral model.

Akamai was DE-CIX NY’s first customer, and the internet exchange has now added more than 70 customer networks, and more than 110 access points across the New York/New Jersey metro area.

“While many networks are heavily dependent on an oligopoly of transit providers, our customers can take advantage of access to settlement-free peering,” said Frank Orlowski, CMO at DE-CIX.

Pure transit customers typically do not get an SLA that covers the transit providers’ interconnection to other networks. Our DE-CIX Apollon customers interconnect directly in a quality-controlled environment that is operated by the most experienced internet exchange engineering in the market.”

Customers of DE-CIX New York include Anexia, IX Reach, Hurricane Electric and Apple.
