Hurricane Electric adds second PoP in Japan

Hurricane Electric has launched a second PoP in Japan at Equinix OS1; the first carrier neutral global data centre in Osaka, Japan.

The Equinix facility boasts 16,000 square feet of co-location space, as well as seismic protection features, data centre services and on-site support.

Hurricane Electric’s latest PoP in Japan will provide Equinix customers with the option for increased network capacity through 100GE, 10GE and GigE network connections. They will also be able to exchange traffic with Hurricane Electric’s global network.

Mike Leber, president at Hurricane Electric, said that the company was pleased to continue its decade-long partnership with Equinix.

“Hurricane Electric is seeing a lot of growth and demand in the APAC market and this latest expansion with Equinix fits nicely into our overall global expansion plans,” he said.

Hurricane Electric also has a PoP in Equinix TY2 in Tokyo, Japan, and in February this year, connected into the BBIX internet exchange in the city
