Huawei appoints Southeast Asia head

Chinese vendor Huawei has appointed David Sun as president and chief executive officer of its Southeast Asian operations.

With more than 17 years’ experience in the telecoms industry, Sun will be responsible for the development of the carrier, enterprise and consumer business groups in the region.

“The world of technology is a fast-changing environment and we are well-positioned to tap new opportunities during this time of transformation,” Sun said.

“We are committed to bringing the best solutions and services to customers and also persistent to drive customers’ success.”

Sun joined Huawei in 1998, and has held a number of management roles including chief representative of Huawei’s Hangzhou and Guangzhou offices, as well as sales director of network product line in China.

Most recently Sun was VP and head of carrier business group of the Southeast Asia region at Huawei.

Last month, Huawei appointed Lord Browne of Madingley as independent non-executive chairman of its UK subsidiary, as well as two independent non-executive directors.
