MENA-SCS selects Fastweb for backhaul capacity

MENA Submarine Cable System (SCS) has signed an agreement with Fastweb, which will see the Italian operator implement a backhaul capacity connection along the entire Italian peninsula to the Caldera business park in Milan, Italy.

The additional capacity is designed to enable MENA-SCS to carry traffic from India, the Gulf and Egypt to the Milan neutral hub on diversified routes.

“We are very proud to have contributed with our experience to the implementation of this project,” said Fabrizio Casati, chief wholesale officer at Fastweb.

“We worked closely with MENA-SCS during the feasibility and the design of the project in order to ensure its implementation in a very short time.”

Via the hub in Milan, MENA-SCS will be able to distribute data traffic to the main European internet exchanges and open up a new path for the interconnection of communications networks between continents.

“We are happy to extend our network to reach one of the biggest hubs in Europe by which MENA SCS is able to provide its customers direct connectivity to continental Europe,” said Ahmed Khalaf, managing director at MENA.

“We chose Fastweb because of its experience in the territory of Italy, and we believe that the cooperation between MENA-SCS and Fastweb will be in favour of our customers.”
