Telstra launches PoP with datamena in UAE

Australia’s Telstra has launched a PoP at du’s datamena open and neutral data centre and connectivity platform in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Peter Hobbs, head of global wholesale at Telstra, expects the additional PoP to add more diversified, low-latency options for its enterprise customers operating in the Middle East.

“We’re seeing growth in the ME media industry and recent research suggests the accelerated adoption of mobile technology, evolutions in paid and digital media, and a new wave of unique youth-produced content will only accelerate data traffic in the coming years,” Hobbs said.

“When you combine this with the fact that gaming in the Middle East is growing faster than the global average – exceeding other fast-growing emerging markets such as Russia, China and South Korea – there is clearly demand for high-speed, reliable network connectivity in the ME that will also improve routing efficiency into Europe and throughout Asia.”

datamena’s carrier neutral model enables customers to meet, interconnect and do business from a single point in the Middle East, with direct low-latency access to key markets in the region as well as the US and Asia.

“We are proud to support Telstra as it grows and develops its business in the Middle East, ensuring they have simple and efficient solutions for local presence, connectivity, peering and data centre services,” said Fahad Al Hassawi, CCO at du.

“Our datamena facility is aimed at attracting customers looking to expand their global footprint, and is designed as a growth accelerator for digital businesses in the UAE and Gulf region.”
