Etisalat and TSIC sign global framework agreement

Etisalat and TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) have signed a global framework agreement which has seen the latter selected as Etisalat’s preferred global internet backbone provider.

The move is expected to benefit Etisalat’s global customer base, and Wael Ammar, EVP of carrier services at Etisalat Group, said that the partnership reinforces its position as a leading player across Asia and the MENA region.

“It will ensure that our 169 million customers benefit from direct, fast and reliable connectivity in their daily lives,” Ammar said.

“In a world where ‘real-life’ and ‘online-life’ are increasingly becoming one, Etisalat aspires forwards with its innovative solutions and strategic partners to define the future, everywhere we operate.”

TSIC’s internet backbone provides data routes and strategic network interconnections for customers, as well as a wide range of services such as Ethernet, internet voice and IPX-based mobile data solutions.

“I am proud that TSIC has been chosen by Etisalat Group as a strategic partner for internet services,” said Staffan Göjeryd, VP of data and infrastructure at TSIC.

"It is a testament to the depth of a relationship built up over the last seven years, and further demonstrates our progress with customers following our first in-region PoPs in the Middle East in Spring 2014."

TSIC launched PoPs in Oman, Qatar and Dubai last year.
