ZTE launches IP radio access network

ZTE has launched an IP radio access network (RAN) operation and maintenance (OAM) system based on SDN technology.

The system is said to offer IP RAN via the SDN controller. It claims to enable 90% of routine OAM work to be performed through mobile terminals, saving at least 30% in manpower costs.

ZTE demonstrated the technology in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress 2015 yesterday.

The vendor also announced that it has collaborated with China Mobile to jointly provide an integrated SDN solution to the Softnet Architecture for Mobile (SAME). The solution, which uses a mobile network architecture based on NFV and SDN technologies, will enhance the efficiency and flexibility of mobile networks in the future.
