Huawei collaborates with Intel on cloud computing

Huawei has announced a strategic partnership with Intel to deliver cloud computing services to carriers worldwide.

Aimed at providing carriers with greater access to high-quality and innovative technologies, the alliance will combine Intel’s technology with Huawei’s expertise in information and communications technology solutions.

The companies will focus their efforts on developing scalable, optimised and cost-efficient hardware and software platforms for telecoms carriers.

The duo will also seek to drive improvements in performance and security for Huawei’s FusionSphere cloud operating system in a bid to increase network virtualisation performance of its platforms.

“Industry collaboration will foster innovation to deliver the latest cloud technology to telecommunications service providers,” said Jason Waxman, vice president and general manager at Cloud Platforms, Intel. “Huawei’s efforts with Intel to develop the next generation FusionSphere products using Intel technology will enable service providers to deliver high performing, secure, and agile cloud services.”

In 2012, both companies signed a memorandum of understanding to work together on server, data centre, storage and cloud computing products.
