Etisalat and Huawei sign MoU on research cooperation

Etisalat and Huawei have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on joint research initiatives aimed at improving user experience for Etisalat’s customers.

Under the agreement, both companies will expand their research efforts focussing on full-scale network transformation that would improve user experience. 

Etisalat and Huawei will focus on emerging technologies such as 3CC carrier aggregation, 4K video, 1Gbps @home, VoWifi and cloud computing technology. The duo will also trial functions and applications based on software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualisation (NFV) principles. 

"Our collaboration with Huawei allows for collective research and sharing of best practice that helps us maintain our leading position in providing extraordinary end-user experience," said Saeed Al Zarouni, senior vice president of Mobile Network, Etisalat UAE.

Both companies had previously worked together on the rollout of Etisalat’s 4G LTE networks
