Bell expands 4G to 120 Canadian communities

Bell has extended its 4G network to 120 more small communities across Quebec and Ontario in Canada, as part of its ongoing national expansion.

The company is rolling out its LTE services to small towns and rural communities in every region of Canada - including Peterborough, Maitland, North Bay, the Rigaud and Sainte-Julie - as it deploys its recently licensed 700MHz bands and other spectrum assets.

The announcement follows an earlier launch of LTE service in 52 small communities across all four provinces in Atlantic Canada.

Bell claims to cover 86% of the national population and the company aims to connect 98% of Canada’s population to its network by the end of the year.

"Bell is proud to offer consumers and businesses everywhere the benefits of high quality, high bandwidth mobile data access made possible by LTE," said Wade Oosterman, president of Bell Mobility.

"From Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière to Grafton, Pickle Lake to Bromont, customers can now access the same great broadband service and mobile applications as customers in major centres across Canada.”
