Netrality Properties acquires Texas data centre space

Data centre service provider Netrality Properties has acquired 1301 Fannin Street in Houston, Texas; a 1,100,000 square foot, fibre-rich building housing over a dozen networks.

Netrality intends to undertake immediate construction at the facility – which has 400,000 square feet of data centre space and additional footage for co-location use – including the development of a carrier-neutral Meet Me Room for operators.

The Meet Me Room marks phase one of construction and is due for completion in mid-2015. Netrality is also looking to convert two floors of the unit into additional data centre space.

Hunter Newby, chief strategy advisor at Netrality, said that facility would complement its growing carrier hotel platform.

“As the fourth largest city in the US, Houston is a critical location for network operators,” Newby said. “Further, its proximity and direct network access to Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico make it a global gateway and therefore strategic for us and our customers.”

Pat Morrissey or Morrissey Realty represented Netrality on the transaction and no financial details were revealed.
