Hurricane Electric launches second Singapore PoP

Hurricane Electric has added a new PoP at Global Switch Singapore, its second in the country and fifth in east Asia.

The Global Switch Singapore facility includes eight cooling towers, as well as advanced security and fire protection, and Hurricane Electric hopes the new PoP will meet increasing demands for connectivity from the Asian marketplace.

“Already established in 20 US states and 22 countries around the world, Hurricane Electric is delighted to strengthen its international footprint with a new PoP at Global Switch Singapore,” said Mike Leber, president at Hurricane Electric.

Customers of the PoP are now able to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s global network, as well as benefit from improved fault tolerance and lower latency.

“Having deployed IPv6 in 2001, Hurricane Electric was one of the first companies to recognise the size and speed advantages that this protocol offers to the business community,” Leber said.

“Since that time, we have provided IPv6 as a core service so that every customer can utilise IPv6 connectivity as well as classic IPv4 connectivity, if they desire.”
