Zayo acquires Latisys for $675 million

Zayo Group is to acquire the operating units of co-location and infrastructure-as-a-service provider Latisys for $675 million.

The move lands Zayo eight data centres across four markets in the US – Northern Virginia, Chicago, Denver and Orange County – and London, UK.

Latisys has a total of over 185,000 square feet of data centre space and serves approximately 1,100 predominantly medium to large enterprises.

Zayo plans to connect Latisys’ facilities to its metropolitan fibre networks, which will enable it to sell fibre and bandwidth services to Latisys’ enterprise customers.

“Both Latisys and Zayo’s zColo business have a great track record of creating value for investors and customers,” said Dan Caruso, chairman and CEO of Zayo Group. “The addition of Latisys into Zayo strengthens Zayo’s portfolio of infrastructure services.”

The acquisition brings Zayo’s data centre portfolio to 45 facilities within the US, France and the UK.

Capacity's Metro Connect USA 2015 event takes place on 27-28 January in Miami.
