HGC secures first customer on new 100G network

Hutchison Global Communications (HGC) has secured the first customer on its MetroLambda-X 100G service.

HGC claims a major US carrier has begun using the 100G service, which was said to take two months to provision. The network covers Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories in China, and is powered by a WDM platform based on multiple-degree Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) technology for data transmission.

“Our world-class 100G optical-fibre backbone network is ready to meet the demands of international carriers, as well as financial and other corporations needing an optical-fibre network with high-capacity bandwidth and low latency,” said Byron Chiang, HGC’s CTO.
