Telenor selects Nokia Networks for VoLTE in Denmark

Telenor has selected Nokia Networks to implement its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) platform, following a successful trial on its commercial network.

Nokia Networks will implement and integrate its IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Open TAS (Telecommunications Application Server), Home Subscriber Server (HSS) and Border gateway (Open BGW) to enable VoLTE services.

As part of the deal, Nokia NetAct network management system (OSS) will oversee and optimise Telenor’s networks to ensure optimal interworking with the existing network.

“We are committed to offer innovative, future-ready technologies and services that improve our customers’ satisfaction,” said Kim Krogh Andersen, Telenor’s network director. “The VoLTE tests performed with Nokia Networks demonstrate crystal clear voice quality. Our customers will love that.”

With VoLTE, Telenor’s customers will be able to benefit from superior voice quality and faster call setup times. Carriers have made major headway with VoLTE in 2014, as they aim to launch commercial services in 2015.
