Vodafone and Ericsson deploy Radio Dot System in the Netherlands

Vodafone Netherlands and Ericsson have today announced the successful deployment of the Swedish vendor’s Radio Dot System at Radboud University in the Netherlands.

Claimed to be the first live enterprise deployment of the system, Ericsson’s Radio Dot System is designed to improve indoor performance for mobile broadband users by providing coverage with an antenna, or radio dot, which enables a higher standard of performance.

“Enterprise customers are an important part of our business and addressing their need for fast and reliable mobile connectivity is high on our agenda,” said Mallik Rao, CTO at Vodafone Netherlands. “The Ericsson Radio Dot System is an efficient way of enhancing our indoor coverage and capacity.”

The vendor recently released a report revealing that the need for indoor coverage has significantly increased, and Ericsson’s technology is designed to address this by removing bottlenecks for users.

“As a strategic network supplier to Vodafone, Ericsson is delivering on our promise to work closely with Vodafone to expand their opportunities in the enterprise market with the Ericsson Radio Dot System,” said Arun Bansal, VP and head of business unit radio at Ericsson.

The Radio Dot System will support the high-speed data connectivity needs of Vodafone’s enterprise customers, and is also designed to support integration with Ericsson’s carrier Wifi portfolio which features real-time traffic steering to ensure the best user experience across Wifi and 3GPP networks.
