High-speed broadband deployed to Welsh communities

High-speed broadband services have been delivered to remote areas in Wales in the UK under a government initiative.

More than 16km of overhead fibre and 20km of underground fibre was installed to reach the village of Dinas Mawddwy, Gwynedd, as part of UK Superfast Cymru; a partnership between the Welsh Government, UK Government, European Regional Development Fund and BT.

BT engineers installed Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) to homes and businesses in the village, enabling broadband speeds of up to 330Mbps. In the coming months, additional homes and businesses in the village will be able to access broadband services as BT rolls out Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC).

Other locations in Wales to be deployed with FTTP technology include Llanengan, Mold, Connahs Quay, Morriston and Gorseinon.
