FTTH reaches 100 million subscribers in Asia-Pacific

The FTTH Council Asia-Pacific has revealed that 100 million people in the region have subscribed to fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services.

The figures, which were compiled by Ovum, demonstrate the rapid pace of FTTH adoption in the region.

Asia-Pacific is leading the world in FTTH subscribers and this is a major milestone which represents a tremendous financial investment and a strong understanding of the future of networking infrastructure… it reflects the growth of content and the continuous demand for content,” said Julie Kunstler, principal analyst at Ovum.

The FTTH Council Asia-Pacific promotes the adoption of fibre technologies and works to boost the number of FTTH subscribers. The council will celebrate its tenth anniversary next year.
