Verizon president in bullish mood about wholesale

Capacity Europe day 2 – Technological advancements are creating fresh opportunities for the wholesale market, according to Eric Cervis, president at Verizon Global Wholesale.

During his keynote speech at Capacity Europe this morning, Cevis highlighted the significant growth in global IP traffic, M2M connections and cloud expenditure as examples of how technologies are transforming the market.

“These are exciting times for the highly dynamic global wholesale market,” he said. “The technological and market forces driving our industry are forcing us all to look at the market differently. At Verizon, this entails redefining how we cooperate and collaborate with our customers and partners.”

During his speech, Cevis leveraged data from a recent Verizon-sponsored study conducted by Harvard Business Review Analytic Services.

Out of the 672 survey respondents, 68% said that the use of new technology had improved responsiveness to customers, while 64% said that use of new technologies had increased employee productivity. Furthermore, 64% of companies that have been first adopters with new technologies stated that they were ahead of their competitors in market position.

“Technology is clearly an enabler for business success, and those organisations that are agile and early to adopt advanced technologies gain competitive advantage in highly competitive markets,” he added.

Verizon Global Wholesale has been shortlisted in the best product innovation category for what promises to be an exciting evening at this year's Global Carrier Awards in Amsterdam.
