Interoute opens VDC in Madrid

Interoute has opened its latest Virtual Data Centre zone (VDC) in Madrid as part of its continuing platform expansion.

The facility will be built into the core of the company’s pan-European network, and the VDC is designed so organisations can deploy virtual computing and storage infrastructure for enterprise applications in minutes.

Interoute customers will now be able to select any of the Interoute VDC zones across Europe to host their data, or take their service global using the company’s facilities in Hong Kong and New York.

Interoute said data transfer between VDC zones is free, due to the integration of the company’s advanced network.

As part of its expansion into Spain, Interoute VDC brings locally compliant low-latency cloud to the Spanish market, and is designed to provide the global reach and scale needed to service today’s borderless digital marketplace.

“The combination of services of a physical data centre and a Virtual Data Centre creates a unique value proposition in the Spanish market, due to both being integrated into Europe’s largest cloud service platform,” said Diego Matas, country manager for Interoute Iberia.

As part of the move, Interoute said it has aims to transform the Spanish enterprise sector, and it will look to consolidate or migrate to a more cost effective platform.

“Interoute Virtual Data Centre is unique because our strategy is to bring the cloud to where our customers are, their customers and their legacy,” added Matthew Finnie, CTO at Interoute.
