Telekom Austria adds VimpelCom as signalling customer

Telekom Austria Group has signed an executive group framework agreement with VimpelCom to add the Russian player as a signalling customer.

The agreement will see VimpelCom use Telekom Austria Group’s roaming and signalling services to reduce time and cost when establishing and maintaining roaming connections, and build a future-proof solution.

“We believe that Telekom Austria Group will provide us not only with cost-effective and high-quality signalling services, but will allow us to improve roaming value-added services provisioning as well,” said Evgeny Ryabov, GM and director at VimpelCom.

Telekom Austria Group has a long track record and experience as a signalling provider, and its SS7 signalling service network connects more than 800 roaming destinations across 190 countries.

The operator’s services also include a variety of options including interconnect, automatic SMS conversion to match destination country codes, as well as the statistical breakdown of SS7 data.

“The Telekom Austria Group’s wholesale business is one of the ten major signalling partners worldwide for numerous international network providers and we are proud to announce VimpelCom Group as our latest signalling customer,” said Stefan Amon, director of wholesale at Telekom Austria Group.

“Roaming services are essential for any mobile operator who wants to successfully deliver global services to customers. Thus we continuously strive to extend our signalling services to peers globally.”
