China-EU telecoms trade dispute to end?

An EU trade official claims an agreement is on its way to end China and the EU’s long-running dispute over Chinese exports of telecoms equipment.

Reuters reports that EU trade chief Karel De Gucht will ask commissioners to back a proposal that would bring an end to the dispute over imports by Huawei and ZTE amounting to €1 billion per year.

As part of the move, both parties would reportedly agree to monitor the market share of Chinese telecoms companies in Europe, and European telecoms companies in China.
