Belarus startup to launch Minsk LTE network in 2015

Belarusian startup operator beCloud (Belarusian Cloud Technologies) is planning to launch a 4G LTE network in the capital Minsk in 2015, according to local reports.

beCloud is a joint venture between Belarusian enterprise National Data Peering Centre and Russian entrepreneur Konstantin Nikolayev, and the launch has been confirmed to reporters by Sergei Popkov, the country’s Minister of Communications and Information.

Popkov said that he expects beCloud’s network to provide high-speed internet and TV services to the country, as well as specialised health and education services.

beCloud was issued a 15-year licence to operate telecoms services in the country in August 2013, and its network is due to launch next year, with all regional centres expected to be covered by the end of 2016.
