“We’ll be adding Netflix to our set-top box services starting November,” Richard announced at a conference in Paris today (October 2). “We’ll also work, in parallel, with our French partners to reinforce their media offerings.”
Speaking to a local newspaper, Richard said that negotiations had been tough, but had now “come to a close”.
Orange joins Bouygues Telecom, which signed a partnership with Netflix last month, and the deal provides the video-streaming firm with access to more than 10 million Orange broadband subscribers in France.
The arrival of Netflix in France initially raised concerns from local players – Orange included – but it now appears to making progress and is also thought to be in talks with several operators in Belgium.
