CenturyLink expands into China

US operator CenturyLink has expanded the availability of its global managed hosting services into China.

The development is designed to better serve multinational corporations conducting business in the country, and its customers will now be able to access a range of managed hosting, security, cloud and networking solutions through a Shanghai data centre.

"For multinational corporations looking to grow their customer base, entering China presents enormous opportunities and challenges," said Gery Messer, CenturyLink managing director, Asia-Pacific. "CenturyLink makes it easy for businesses to host within China's borders, offering access to the same highly secure managed services and consistent IT experience available across our global footprint."

The company has partnered with IT provider Neusoft to enable the new services, which include managed hosting, co-location and cloud presence in the country. Neusoft has an extensive presence across the country and CenturyLink said companies that needed assistance in entering the market can access extended services from the joint agreement.

"We are excited to collaborate with CenturyLink to meet the demand from its impressive enterprise customer base for China-based managed hosting solutions," said Angela Wang, SVP at Neusoft. "This collaboration offers clients a unique opportunity to expand their IT presence into China by leveraging the resources of two world-class global IT providers to help simplify the complexities inherent in the country."

CenturyLink’s data centre facility is located in the Shanghai free trade zone, and is operated by data centre services provider GDS. The investment comes as the company continues with global data centre expansions, including the opening of a second data centre in Toronto, earlier this year.

According to Gartner, IT spending in China will reach $375 billion in 2015.
