Bell Aliant CEO to step down

Bell Aliant president and CEO Karen Sheriff has announced that she will retire at the end of the year, as the company becomes integrated into its parent organisation Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE).

In September, the Canadian operator announced that BCE will privatise Bell Aliant, which is expected to close at the end of October.

Upon close of the transaction, Bell Aliant will cease operating as a publicly traded company and will be integrated into BCE.

Sheriff joined Bell Canada more than 15 years ago as a marketing executive and was appointed COO in July 2008, before assuming the CEO position in November 2008.

“Karen Sheriff has been a key senior leader at BCE since she joined Bell Canada as a marketing executive more than 15 years ago. Karen has transformed Bell Aliant into an innovative and efficient competitor that ranks with the best telecom operators across North America," said George Cope, president and CEO of Bell Canada and BCE.
