AT&T and Shell strike unified communications platform agreement

AT&T and Shell have signed an agreement to migrate 150,000 employees and contractors in over 50 countries to a new unified communications platform.

The capabilities will be accessible through instant messaging, voice, web, video conferencing and application sharing using a single, intuitive interface.

AT&T claims the unified communications deployment is its most comprehensive to date for a single business customer.

Shell employees will also be able to connect to each other using a wide range of connected devices including PCs, tablets and smartphones.

The solution enables voice, data files and video sharing across all major mobile operating platforms including Windows, Windows Phone, iOS and Android.

“It’s been enormously rewarding to work with Shell, which operates in a dynamic and highly globalised industry,” said Mark Shine, AT&T SVP.

“We’re helping them save money by providing the framework for a mobile environment. AT&T is delivering what it does best so Shell can focus on its core business, providing energy products and solutions for consumers and businesses around the world.”
