HGC launches video conferencing service

Hutchison Global Communications (HGC) has partnered with UK-based video conferencing management service provider, UCi2i, to launch a cloud-based video conferencing service.

The service is designed to provide enterprises with a high-definition, multi-point video conferencing system; without the need to spend big on hardware.

It will be compatible with H.323-based video conference equipment available from a variety of vendors, as well as SIP-based devices such as PCs, MACs and iPads.

Jennifer Tan, COO at Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong, said that the collaboration with UCi2i will deliver a “truly life-like” experience.

“This promotes environmental conservation by removing the need for executives to travel, saving significant time and expense, while reducing carbon emission,” Tan said.

“It also minimises capex outlay on hardware, and reduces the running costs normally associated with technical oversight of video conferencing sessions and ongoing maintenance.”

Enterprise customers are expected to be able to reap the benefits of uninterrupted video-conferencing services between Southeast Asia, Europe and Africa, thanks to a MPLS link connecting Hong Kong and London.

Earlier this month, HGC signed an agreement with Microsoft’s hosting and solutions provider, Superhub, to jointly launch a hosted Microsoft email exchange service.
