Greece receives three bids in mobile auction

Greek regulators have received three bids for its mobile frequency sale with the view of upgrading telecoms services.

The country’s largest operators, including OTE, Vodafone and Wind have made bids in the 800MHz and 2600MHz bands, said regulator EETT in a statement.

Greece is going through a privatisation process with international lenders, aimed at raising $28 billion, and the minimum price for radio frequencies is set at €380 million.

Competition continues to lower prices in Greece’s telecoms market, which is worth approximately €3 billion.

OTE mobile unit Cosmote owns 40% of the Greek market, while Wind and Vodafone hold 30% each.
