TE Connectivity upgrades antenna systems to 4G

TE Connectivity has announced it has upgraded its antenna systems to 4G, in a bid to allow customers that presently use 2G and 3G services to deliver more capacity over their networks.

The company will use techniques including multiple input and output (MIMO) services, including resectorisation to add new frequencies including 700MHz and 2100MHz capabilities.

The solutions provider is stepping up its efforts to provide new levels of capacity and services to stadiums, hospitality venues, subways, major enterprises and universities worldwide.

It will upgrade its FlexWave Prism and InterReach Spectrum distributed antenna systems (DAS) to 4G, and claimed the solutions are becoming ideal for upgrades as they use technologically agnostic electronics to distribute mobile signals.

This means mobile operators and venue owners can add new base station interfaces, so signals are automatically distributed to remote antennas.

“TE’s DAS products make it easy for our customers to stay up to date with ongoing changes in wireless infrastructure, by upgrading with technologies such as MIMO,” said Peter Wraight, president of TE’s wireless business unit.

“Our all-digital solutions provide a robust and cost-effective upgrade path for mobile operators and venue owners who want to continue to bring the highest quality of service to their subscribers and guests,” he added.
