Viatel will invest in extending its fibre infrastructure, cloud services and data centres across Europe, as well as complete a number of acquisitions with its funding partner, Proventus Capital Partners.
“While we already connect 150 data centres, and thousands of multinational enterprises and organisations across Western Europe, this investment will now enable us to enhance our services and to extend our reach further and deeper within Europe, and to connect new locations,” said Colm Piercy, CEO at Viatel.
These new locations include the US, Canada, the Middle East and Asia, which the company hopes to serve with its portfolio of voice and managed services, as well as the transcontinental duct and fibre it owns in Europe.
Piercy said the company is expanding its sales, technical and product development and delivery teams in London, Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam and Frankfurt, as well as working to secure several strategic acquisitions in the provider market.

At the beginning of this month, Viatel completed the second phase of its 100G network upgrade in Europe.
