Intelsat extends agreement with Angolan operator

Intelsat has extended its agreement with Angolan operator MSTelecom to provide satellite broadband services in Angola.

MSTelecom – a subsidiary of the Angolan national oil and gas company Sonangol – will continue to leverage Intelsat’s satellite and terrestrial network to provide services to consumers and businesses in banking and the oil and gas sector in Angola.

Under the new multiyear agreement, MSTelecom will expand its geographical reach and also migrate to a point-to-multipoint service that will enable it to share bandwidth among multiple sites.

“We look forward to providing MSTelecom with a broadband network that incorporates our satellite and terrestrial solutions, as well as operational support that will help MSTelcom deliver and expand both its geographic reach and the services provided to corporate enterprises and communities within Angola,” said Grant Marais, Intelsat’s regional VP of Africa sales.

Intelsat recently released its Q2 results, which were in line with expectations despite experiencing a drop in revenues.
