MTN Irancell to begin 3G testing

Iranian operator MTN Irancell has claimed it will begin testing its 3G network in public universities and government institutions across the country’s capital, Tehran.

According to reports, the company has received approval from industry regulators to begin operation from 23 August, and the company will use 3G and next-generation technologies for the trial.

MTN said it will also offer mobile virtual training, access to a range of TV channels for mobility and the use of an electronic library.

The company will also offer services including LBS, M2M, VoIP and e-government capabilities.

MTN Irancell was the first operator in the country to be granted a 3G licence.
