Blue Box private cloud joins Equinix exchange

Data centre provider Equinix has announced that the Blue Box Group will be delivering its private cloud as a service (PCaaS) on the Equinix Cloud Exchange.

Cloud technology company Blue Box will initially offer its PCaaS – intended to act as an alternative to the multi-tenant public cloud – in Equinix’s Seattle SE3 International Business Exchange (IBX) facility.

The Blue Box cloud solution is designed to offer a dedicated, fully-managed and on-demand service to enterprise customers.

“By joining the Equinix Cloud Exchange, Blue Box is able to solve the business challenges of enterprise customers that want fully-managed resources as part of a hybrid cloud solution – with the ability to interconnect to multiple cloud providers,” said Jim Poole, VP of global service providers at Equinix.

“Increasingly, cloud providers such as Blue Box are recognising the many benefits associated with Cloud Exchange, including high performance, security, reliability and access to an expanding ecosystem of network service providers and enterprises,” he added.

Blue Box has been a customer of Equinix since early 2013, and as well as the Seattle data centre it also has a presence in Equinix’s ZH4 facility in Zurich, Switzerland.

The Equinix Cloud Exchange is available in 17 markets worldwide, including Silicon Valley, New York, Chicago, London and Paris, and recently announced a launch in Asia-Pacific.

Equinix hopes to expand its presence to 19 markets by the end of 2014.
