Mobily and Batelco pen 4G roaming deal

Middle Eastern operators Mobily and Batelco have reportedly signed a 4G roaming agreement for mutual customer benefit.

Customers of Saudi Arabia’s Mobily are expected to benefit from advanced internet services outside of their domestic market, and vice versa for customers of Bahrain’s Batelco.

Mobily has been focussing heavily on developing its network in the Middle East – following a partnership with Alcatel-Lucent for its NFV solution – and in September last year, Batelco partnered with Ericsson to upgrade its LTE network.

Mobily signed a similar roaming deal with Etisalat in March this year, using the latter’s SmartHub IPX facility. Etisalat also signed a roaming deal with iBasis in the same month.
