EdgeConnex partners with TelNet to develop new data centre

EdgeConnex has partnered with cloud provider TelNet Worldwide to develop a new data centre in Southfield, Michigan.

The Tier-3 Edge data centre facility will launch in November this year, and is said to capitalise on EdgeConnex innovative capabilities and TelNet’s presence across greater Michigan to provide a range of services for data-intensive customers.

As part of the project, EdgeConnex is building and deploying data centres that are strategically positioned near network provider aggregation points, ensuring low-latency data delivery and an improved quality of service.

The company now has 14 of these facilities operational or under construction, and the company said they are designed to cope with the highest technical standards in the industry, boasting a new proprietary online data centre infrastructure management system (DCIM) that provides visibility into each centre’s operation.

“EdgeConnex is locating data centres strategically throughout the US to reshape the way the internet functions, and Detroit is an important location,” said Pat O’Leary, CEO at TelNet.

“They chose TelNet because of our strong reputation in the region, local expertise and commitment to bringing the best-of-breed cloud, next-generation network and managed services to the marketplace.”

Clint Heiden, EdgeConnex CCO, added that the launch of the Edge data centres were designed to grow and expand the company’s presence in building additional partnership opportunities across geographical areas.
