The companies used Coriant’s flexi-grid technology through Allied Fiber’s facility in its open-access, integrated, network-neutral, co-location and dark fibre infrastructure to conduct the trial.
The trial was conducted over Allied Fiber’s Corning fibre in south east Florida and was designed to show operators how the technology from both companies can enable connections between access networks – both fibre and mobile – and long-haul carrier, content and enterprise networks.

The trial demonstrated 1Tbps super-channel transmission in a 368.7GHz grid over 1,700km, as well a 35% improvement in spectral efficiency, significantly increasing system capacity.

Coriant completed a successful 1Tbps trial with NBN Co. in Australia in March 2014.
