Zayo completes 100G upgrade in Europe

Zayo Group has completed a 100G upgrade on its long-haul network in Europe.

The 100G platform runs on routes from London to Amsterdam, Amsterdam to Frankfurt, Frankfurt to Paris, and Paris to London.

The upgrade took nine months to complete and will offer customers high-bandwidth connectivity to Zayo’s metro fibre footprints across Europe.

The upgrade follows Zayo’s acquisition of Geo Networks in May, which added over 2,100 route miles to its network.

The acquisition of Neo Telecoms, announced in April, will add a further 350 metro route miles to its network subject to the deal’s expected closure in the third quarter of 2014.

“This expansion of our 100G capability is testament to our continued investment in Europe and dedication to providing our customers with the latest technology to accommodate bandwidth needs. With these long-haul capabilities in place, we can provide significantly enhanced service between our metro networks,” said Zayo Group’s European VP Alastair Kane.
