Invitel Holdings sale scheduled for Q3 2014

Hungarian fixed-line and broadband operator Invitel Holdings is to be sold off later this year by private equity fund Mid Europa Partners.

The fund has selected Rothschild Group to sell off the entity, after deciding to divest the business in March this year.

Invitel is Hungary’s second-largest fixed-line operator, and consolidated with Danish telecoms company TDC in September 2009.

Invitel is reportedly valued at up to €300 million, but it is likely assets in the company will be broken up to boost chances of a sale.

It is thought a sale process will begin in Q3 2014, with T-Mobile’s Hungarian unit (Magyar Telecom), Vodafone and Telenor all rumoured to be interested.
