Huawei increases enterprise sales target

Chinese vendor Huawei has announced that it has raised sales targets across its enterprise business, and now expects sales to increase by 40% year-on-year.

William Xu, board member and head of strategy at the company, made the announcement, meaning the company has altered its expectations for 2014, which had previously forecast a 30% increase.

Last year, the company generated $2.45 billion from the unit, representing 6% of the group’s total revenue.

Its enterprise unit represents a range of products and services, including data services and building private networks for companies and organisations.

The group has three major units, with its smartphone manufacturing division and its network business representing 70% of sales last year.

Huawei, which has organised an event in Milan this week, said it will focus its enterprise business in the future on customers in finance and transportation, in addition to energy and media.

The company has also placed an increased focus on Europe, and pledged to hire over 5500 employees in Europe over the next five years. It has 28 innovation centres around the world.
