Claro Brasil and Syniverse to enable LTE data roaming for World Cup

Claro Brasil has announced a partnership with solutions provider Syniverse to enable LTE data roaming for the Brazilian operator’s customers.

The deal falls ahead of the FIFA World Cup, which takes place this summer in a number of cities across Brazil, and will see Syniverse deliver a range of interoperability solutions for high-speed LTE data roaming.

“LTE roaming enablement is much more than just a short-term benefit, as it promises multiple benefits that Claro Brasil can expect to reap long after the World Cup,” said John Wick, SVP and GM of mobile transaction services at Syniverse. “Our focus is on ensuring our customers are equipped to deliver the experiences their subscribers and visiting roamers expect anywhere, anytime.”

Syniverse will provide Claro Brasil with its Diameter Signalling Service (DSS) to enable 4G signalling, as well as Roaming Data Analysis Visibility Services for the delivery of real-time intelligence for LTE roaming traffic.

The agreement will also allow visiting mobile users – like those attending the World Cup – to access data on Claro Brasil’s network, driving inbound revenue growth for the operator.

“As mobile users grow accustomed to the speed and innovation of LTE, they will increasingly expect access to the same quality of experience with data services wherever they travel,” said Wick. “Syniverse’s LTE roaming solutions ensure that users will have a seamless, trouble-free experience as they roam from one LTE network to another, anywhere in the world.”

Claro was reportedly the first mobile operator to offer LTE services in Brazil and is an existing customer of Syniverse’s IPX networking solution – the network foundation for enabling LTE roaming.
