Tata and Orange sign interconnect agreement for IPX

Tata Communications and Orange have announced an interconnect agreement for IPX and signalling sigtran to allow for global IP networks to interconnect over their respective IPX platforms.

Tata and Orange will utilise their worldwide network capabilities to allow for mobile operators to deploy innovative broadband services including HD voice, and the peering agreement is designed to enable faster connections and better VoIP quality.

IPX peering between global players facilitates the widespread international adoption of the platform and associated new services such as HD Voice and roaming,” said Alexandre Pébereau, EVP international carriers at Orange.

“Peering with Tata Communications enables both of us to extend our network reach and deliver improved voice quality and greater efficiencies to our respective customers,” he added.

Pébereau went on to encourage mobile operators to quickly make the transition to a multiservice IPX solution as more carriers make the move towards 4G, introducing next-generation IP-based communication services.

According to the companies, peering agreements will provide a major boost for mobile operators, as they are able to obtain global reach through a small number of IPX providers.

“By interconnecting our VoIPX network with Orange, we continue to expand our long-term relationship with a strategic partner and demonstrate our commitment to building our community of interconnected mobile operators,” said Michel Guyot, president global voice solutions at Tata Communications.

“IPX is a crucial platform for the next-generation of IP communication services, and this latest agreement supports our strategy in partnering to provide the broadest global reach for mobile operators looking to take the next step in transforming services via IP,” Guyot explained.
