TeliaSonera appoints head of corporate development

TeliaSonera International Carrier (TSIC) has appointed Henriette Wendt as head of group corporate development.

The position has been created and Wendt will be responsible for strategy, business development, and M&A activity.

Wendt leaves her role as head of corporate strategy and participation management at Swisscom and will join TeliaSonera by the end of August 2014.

“I am very happy to announce Henriette Wendt as our new head of corporate development,” said Johan Dennelind, president and CEO at TeliaSonera.

“Her experience from senior positions in the field of strategy and business development at Swisscom and Motorola in the past 10 years will be very valuable for TeliaSonera going forward.”

The company has also appointed Ingrid Stenmark as head of the CEO office, which is responsible for TeliaSonera’s shareholdings in associate companies MegaFon and Turkcell.

The appointments come after a series of exits from the company following reports that TeliaSonera may have been involved in criminal activity in Turkey.

Last month, TeliaSonera officially appointed Christian Luiga, who had been acting CFO at the company since December 2013, to the permanent position.
