Orange files complaint over rivals' network sharing deal

Orange has filed a complaint with France’s telecoms regulator about the mobile network-sharing deal between rival operators SFR and Bouygues Telecom.

The deal between SFR and Bouygues Telecom was finalised earlier this year, and SFR said it expected to save €200 million as a result.

A local French newspaper said: “The complaint was accompanied by a request for remedies aiming to suspend the implementation of the deal.”

Orange has reportedly said that the agreement between its two rivals covered too much of the country, and was detrimental to competition.

The French operator also said that the technological approach to the deal would effectively mean the deal was irreversible.

French telecoms regulators as well as its competition regulators are said to be reviewing the complaint.
